[Libs-Or] Announcing the New Public Library Standards

The Public Library Division board is pleased to announce the 2018 revision of the Standards for Oregon Public Libraries was approved by the PLD membership. The new Standards are available here: https://www.olaweb.org/pld-standards.

This represents a major revision of the Standards. The Standards are regularly reviewed by a committee of library professionals from small, medium, and large public libraries. PLD welcomes your comments and feedback about the Standards, which will be considered in the next revision.

An overview of the changes:
* The Standards now lay out 11 minimum requirements for an Oregon public library. The goal is to provide a consistent level of service to fulfill at least the basic role of a public library.

* The Standards now include indicators and attributes, to help libraries know when they have met a standard. Because of this, some items which were previously listed as standards are now indicators or attributes, and some new standards were added.

* A new appendix provides a glossary as well as resources.
