Youth Services

The City of Pendleton is accepting applications from remarkable library professionals interested in serving the community as Youth Librarian. This creative, highly organized and youth-oriented person will plan and implement library services for children of all ages and their families; coordinate library service to schools, childcare providers and other community partners serving children; and be a public advocate for children's literacy and library services; and be responsible for social media for the Library.  Applicants must have knowledge of the principles and practices of professional librarianship; knowledge of early learning and literacy; skill in performing promotional and community outreach activities; ability to plan, perform and manage a full range of children's programs including story programs, summer reading and reading readiness activities for children, teens and parents; ability to select age-appropriate materials for youth; proficiency with development, creation and  oversight of social media; and provide readers' advisory and reference service.  Minimum qualifications: Master's Degree in library science, or enrollment in an MLS program to graduate within the year, plus one year of responsible experience providing library service to youth.  English/Spanish bilingual skills a plus.  Work schedule will include evenings and weekends.  Salary $3855 - $4746 DOQ plus excellent benefits.

Assistant Library Director

The City of Pendleton is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Library Director. Position performs a variety of professional-level duties and complex administrative support work in planning, organizing and implementing services to meet the needs and service goals of the Pendleton Public Library. The position is responsible for supervising library personnel, participating in preparing the annual library budget, providing professional reference assistance, and developing and delivering programs, special events, and displays. Bachelor degree required, MLS or MLIS degree preferred and three (3) years of supervisory experience or satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. Salary range is $4,766 - $6365/month plus excellent benefits
