Forwarding this opportunity on behalf of the Connecticut State Library … sounds like an opportunity to get involved in a great project!

Subject: Seeking Public Librarian/Veteran and Military Librarian to collaborate on IMLS Grant Proposal

Posting on behalf of Dawn LaValle, Connecticut State Library:

The newly formed ALA Veteran's Caucus group is seeking a public librarian/veteran and a military librarian to collaborate on an IMLS Veteran's Forum Grant Proposal. The Connecticut State Library is the State Library Partner agency and is looking to State Libraries across the country to send this opportunity to their libraries, public and military/special. Here is the proposed project goal:

 "The Libraries and Veterans National Forum intends to capitalize upon growing momentum in the effort to support veterans in libraries by providing a space for library workers from all types of libraries to come together and share their successes, their lessons learned, and best practices for working with the veteran and military communities. The Forum will conclude with the creation of an online toolkit for library workers to use in their programming for veteran and military-affiliated patrons."

The complete preliminary proposal is available here.<https://storage.ning.com/topology/rest/1.0/file/get/1006230999?profile=original> Currently we are waiting for feedback which is expected in March 2019. If the proposal is funded (estimated June 2019), the project partners will be looking for help with things like:

  *   reviewing program proposals,
  * reviewing applications to attend (we’ll have to cap attendance), and
  * helping us identify potential speakers.

We expect all of this will be able to be done virtually. We’re also hoping that many of our collaborators will be able to attend the forum (tentatively June 2020), though we know that may not be possible for everyone.

If interested please contact Dawn LaValle of the Connecticut State Library by February 19th if interested (full contact info is below). Feel free to forward to colleagues who may be interested.
