[Libs-Or] Patron accommodation question

For what it's worth, before my hearing got worse (it went away in my early 30s), the high pitched whine from TVs, computers, and WiFi boxes used to drive me nuts. It sounded like an annoying, tinny, never-ending version of a mosquito. I used to unplug things in rooms to be able to sleep at night. Maybe that's what she's referring to?

I agree with other people that it wouldn't be fair to make the other patrons lose out on Wi-Fi to accommodate the needs of the one. Perhaps offer to have her email a list of books she wants, and you can set them at the front desk for a fast checkout?

Get on Amazon and purchase her a tin hat. They sell them. Also let her know that the sun puts out millions of times more micro waves than your wife fi.

Subject: [Libs-Or] Patron accommodation question

We have a patron with the following request:

I suffer from a condition called Electro Hypersensitivity, also called microwave sickness. Many others also suffer from this condition (Alan DeBoer's wife is one). When in the presence of a strong wifi signal, my symptoms of ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and headaches worsen.

I am requesting there are days and times when wifi is turned off for people like me. I LOVE reading and have checked out many books from the library.

Have any of you encountered similar requests? How would you handle this situation?
