POSITION: Computer Applications / User Support Specialist
LOCATION: Portland State University Library, Portland, OR

Position Summary

Support the Library’s end-user desktop environments, including Windows PC
and Macintosh computers; printer and peripheral equipment installations,
configurations, and troubleshooting; and otherwise assisting the Library
Technologies team as it manages the Library’s overall technological
operations. You will work closely with Library staff, colleagues in the
Office of Information Technology, and the campus community to meet the
evolving technology needs of Library users.

Required Qualifications

   -

   AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational
   technology, communications, or related fields or 2 years relevant work
   experience
   -

   Ability to provide superior customer service
   -

   Proven ability to work in a collaborative, technical, team oriented
   environment
   -

   Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and
   non-technical staff
   -

   Experience providing desktop support for both Mac and PC
   -

   Ability to collaborate across departments to troubleshoot complex
   technical issues


Preferred Qualifications

   -

   Experience in an academic or library environment
   -

   Working knowledge of Windows Active Directory environments
   -

   Familiarity with ticket or incident tracking systems such as Spiceworks
   or Jira Service Desk
   -

   Experience using Windows and/or Mac imaging tools/techniques
   -

   Functional knowledge of networking concepts and experience configuring
   networked devices
   -

   Experience administering applications in a Windows and/or Linux
   environment


Compensation

The starting annual salary for this position will be between $48,000-$56,000.
The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, however, it will be
dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities of the
chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from
HR. PSU’s excellent benefits package includes 95% premium paid healthcare;
a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for
employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities.
