The local glass store in Hermiston will not receive any more plexi until
July.

I've been looking at what our best sneeze guard options are for protecting
staff/patrons once we reopen our service desks. Unfortunately, our service
desk looks like the titanic and so purchasing pre-made sneeze guards seems
like a very expensive way to go as we'd have to buy many of them to fully
protect everyone. I saw on another list-serv a library that purchased sheets
of plexi and 2x4s to construct their own shield (pic attached). This is the
route we're taking but we also have a woodworker/craftsman as our building
maintenance person so it'll look nice. He visited our local glass supply
store and they only had a few sheets of plexi left and said that it's going
fast and that supplies are backordered into June at this point. I'm guessing
whichever route one chooses, the decision should be made now or you'll be
left w/o any protection...tho our local post office is using clear vinyl
shower curtains as their protection. Good luck everyone!

Hi, everyone,

We are currently working through what a safe, limited service model could
look like with buildings open to the public. One thing we're pretty sure
we're going to need is something like this. Has anyone shopped for said
things? What have you learned? What features are important? What size of
hole? After looking at options what did you decide on? Any and all wisdom
welcome.

This one came from

guard-with-access-hole-ships-flat-355h-x-304w-x-1175d.html, and is used only
to show you the kind of thing I'm talking about.

Thanks,
Amy

The local McDonald?s is passing food out the window using a serving tray. I
was wondering if incorporating something like that with a sneeze guard might
be a concept to incorporate. I do think sneeze guards are needed at
libraries. A good idea coming out of this pandemic that we maybe should have
used for a long time. We don?t like too much separation from the public
because it feels less friendly but it does seem completely reasonable at
public service desks now and into the future.
