This Friday, January 31 is EITC Awareness Day<https://www.eitc.irs.gov/partner-toolkit/eitc-awareness-day/eitc-awareness-day-2>!

I would like to encourage all Oregon libraries to help with the promotion by posting information about Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) on social media accounts that day.

I am working with a group of state agencies that is promoting the use of the EITC among low income families in Oregon. Families that file their taxes can get money back, even if they have minimal income.

There are studies indicating that Oregon ranks lower than other states in taking advantage of this tax credit, so for the last several years this group has been trying to increase participation through a variety of promotion efforts. As a trusted local source for tax information, libraries offer an ideal avenue to help get the word out!

Here are some resources to use:

CashOregon<https://cashoregon.org/> - a great site to help low income families locate free tax preparation services in Oregon

Free printed posters<https://www.eitcoutreach.org/outreach-strategies/materials/posters/> - order free posters for your library

Thank you for your efforts in helping get the word out!
