Greetings everyone,

I'm passing along this unique (and free) training opportunity, please read on for more information on how to apply in order to participate; applications are due September 14.

Are you interested in improving library access for people with disabilities? As part of an IMLS Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Lifelong Learning Continuing Education grant, Infopeople, the Califa training arm, is collaborating with Syracuse University and Project ENABLE to offer a second session of the free 4-week training, "Increasing Library Access and Inclusion: A Problem-Based Approach". Utilizing a series of challenge and solution videos, the training will cover topics such as:

* Access and inclusion for people with disabilities and how this relates to your library's services and programs
* Understanding ADA and how it applies to all people with disability
* Universal Design (UD) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles as well as practical steps for increasing accessibility for patrons with disabilities for your library's facilities, services and programs
* Cultural competence as it relates to the disability community and the intersection between disabilities and other factors such as race, culture, gender, religion, socioeconomic status, etc.
* How to give voice to those in the community with disabilities by conducting focus groups and finding ways for people with disabilities to engage with and serve the library and the greater community.

After the online course is completed, a webinar and discussion groups will provide additional opportunities for conversation and interaction around these topics. A Certificate of Completion will be provided for all participants who complete the requirements.

Registration for this free opportunity is limited to 50 individuals. If you are interested please complete the application by September 14, 2020 in order to be considered for participation. The application can be found at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/N8JCLZC
