Please join us for the February 19, 2021 OSU Library Faculty Seminar Series presentation, “Using Technology to Create Safe Study Spaces during COVID-19” delivered by Lucinda Amerman and Margaret Mellinger, OSU Libraries & Press.

As challenging as it was to close The Valley Library in the first few months of COVID-19, a new challenge was on the horizon – how to reopen the building in accordance with campus, state, and national health and safety guidance. By the time we had clarity on the campus reopening, there were just a few weeks before classes started to devise a plan to provide library spaces and on-site services. In this presentation, we’ll share how a group of dedicated staff deployed an online reservation system that encourages appropriate physical distancing and density within the building. This solution would not have been possible without the additional heroic efforts of the public services team, who devised workflows and training that combined with the technology to make the library one of the safest study spaces on campus.
