*Position Summary*
PCC is Oregon’s largest postsecondary institution and the 19th largest
community college in the nation. PCC provides educational programs,
certificates, and training in more than 100 areas of study.
PCC Library <https://www.pcc.edu/library/>, which includes a building at
each of the college's four comprehensive campuses, provides library
services to the college community and to Portland-area community members.
Library faculty and staff work cooperatively within the department and with
other college employees to provide essential library resources that
complement and support academic and career technical programs. The campus
open computer lab, the Student Learning Center (tutoring) and the Writing
Center are integrated into the Sylvania library. This provides students
with access to multiple student support services in one location. The
Sylvania library features a large collection of college art

PCC Reference and Instruction Librarians engage with individuals and groups
of students, staff, and community members in a wide variety of information
seeking activities, with a focus on developing lifelong information
literacy skills. Librarians are responsible for selection and deselection
of library materials, and also provide the college with an annual
assessment of student learning in library credit classes. Library faculty
work in a highly collaborative environment that requires close working
relationships with library colleagues, other academic departments, student
services, and administration. They serve on library and college-wide
committees to support college goals. PCC Librarians are active in
state/regional
library groups and associations

Cascade Alliance consortium <https://www.orbiscascade.org/> committees.
Successful candidates will have a Master of Library Science or equivalent
from an ALA-accredited library school (or foreign equivalent); the
equivalent of at least one year of teaching experience, either in a formal
or informal setting; knowledge of teaching methods and curriculum design;
and demonstrated ability to effectively work both independently and in a
team environment. They will exemplify the ability to listen, speak, and act
with cultural awareness in a wide variety of contexts and consistently
display a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
This position is one of five openings at Portland Community College that
will pilot a faculty cohort model that seeks to further diversify the
college’s faculty and advance our efforts towards achieving equitable
student success. This faculty cohort will join an educational community
that values cultural competency and inclusive teaching practices. Incoming
faculty will be provided with mentorship, professional development, and
opportunities to connect with faculty across the district. For more
