Salem Public Library is seeking a culturally respectful individual driven by service excellence to support the needs of the Latino community. This position plans and carries out programming, collection development and serves on fast-paced public service desks.
The successful candidate for this full-time career Librarian position will deliver programs and services both inside and outside of the library. They will possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, Readers' Advisory skills, the ability to work with a diverse user group and have proven track-record of exceptional customer service. The incumbent will also participate on internal teams and work groups.
Additional desired competencies include advanced experience using Microsoft Office software, knowledge of modern library systems and operations, and experience assisting users with computers, mobile devices and applications over various platforms.
Minimum requirement is graduation from an ALA Accredited Library school program with an MLS or MLIS degree. This position requires bilingual proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading and writing). This position also offers an additional incentive payment of five percent after successful completion of a fluency exam. Candidates must have the ability to work a varied schedule including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
What are the minimum qualifications?
* Must pass the pre-employment background check.
* Must have an Oregon Driver license and a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards.
* Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science, and some progressively responsible library.
* Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading and writing).
* Ability to work a varied schedule - including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
