University of Portland's Clark Library is hiring an Adjunct Reference Librarian. This is a part time position with no benefits except for accrued sick leave.

Paid hourly, $30.00, planning for 12 hours a week throughout the Fall 2023 semester (August 28 - December 14). Tentative schedule is Monday - Wednesday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., but the hours can be adjusted if needed.

This adjunct position assists students in using the tools of research, provides expertise and assistance in answering reference questions, and staffs the research help desk which includes phone, email and online chat provided to on-campus and distance education students along with UP faculty, staff and guests. Assists with maintaining LibGuides and other projects as assigned. This position reports to a Reference/Instruction Librarian and works closely with the reference and instruction faculty to ensure a high quality educational experience for University of Portland students.

Core Duties:
*  Provides research assistance in person, by online chat, and phone.
*  Works with other reference librarians in reviewing library website, LibGuides and other publications, suggesting design changes, and helping as needed in routine maintenance.
*  Occasionally serves as backup to student workers trained in basics of reference service.
*  Prepares collection guides and tutorials.
*  Other duties as assigned.

Education:
MLS Degree or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution
