[Libs-Or] Assisting Lahaina, Maui

This message was sent out to ALA members … I thought those in the Oregon library community might also be interested in ways to support those impacted by the devastating fires in Maui. –Arlene

Thank you all for your concern for the Lahaina community.  ALA President Emily Drabinski  has messaged with Hawaii State Librarian Stacey Aldrich and the Chapter Relations Office has connected with leaders of the Hawaii Library Association. They have expressed their appreciation for the thoughts and concerns of the entire library community.  The Lāhāina Public Library has only walls and a sign left. The roof and the collections are all in ashes.

At this time no materials are being sought as everything is being assessed in what will be a long recovery and rebuilding effort.  Monetary donations to assist the library can be made to the ALA Disaster Relief Fund<https://www.ala.org/aboutala/offices/cro/getinvolved/disasterreliefefforts>  and you can direct to Hawaii by putting 'Hawaii' in the Tribute text box.

For those who would like to support the humanitarian efforts here are three recommended who are directly supporting the community
