[Libs-Or] Coming Soon: Funding for Technology, Collection Development, and Professional Development from NNLM Region 5

Greetings! I'm passing this along for those who might be interested:

Get ready, the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Region 5<https://www.nnlm.gov/about/regions/region5> (for those of you in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and U.S. Territories and Freely Associated States in the Pacific) will soon offer new funding opportunities. Funded awards improve access to health information, furthering the mission of the NNLM<https://www.nnlm.gov/about/about-nnlm>. Pending budget availability, upcoming awards for the May 1, 2025 - April 30, 2026 funding period include:


1.      Technology Improvement Award: to increase access to technology. Two awards, $5,000 each


2.      Collection Equity Award: to support library collection development of health materials for diverse communities. Applications will be accepted from public libraries only. 4 awards, $1,500 each.

Tentative Timeline:
*        January 8, 2025: Requests for Applications/ Notice of Funding Opportunities for Technology Improvement and Collection Equity Awards posted to NNLM.gov
*        February 17, 2025: Letters of Intent due for Technology Improvement and Collection Equity Awards
*        April 2, 2025: Applications due
*        June 1, 2025: Funded projects begin
*        April 2026: Final reports due for funded projects


3.      Professional Development Award: to provide continued learning opportunities on health information and research. Applications for this award will be accepted on an ongoing basis beginning May 1, 2025, until funding is expended.
