Greetings library community!
Just a quick reminder that applications to attend Libraries Leading with Equity: Operationalizing EDI Efforts are due by the end of the day, Wednesday, February 13, 2024. Please see below for the original email for dates and a link to the application.
The State Library of Oregon is pleased to announce that applications are now open to attend the online course, Libraries Leading with Equity: Operationalizing EDI Efforts<https://libguides.osl.state.or.us/conted/leadingwithequity>. This is a follow-up course to the many successful Libraries Leading with Equity cohort sessions held around the state for the past few years.
Libraries Leading with Equity: Operationalizing EDI Efforts is a course designed for those ready to move beyond a basic understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion, through engaging in a robust, capacity-building learning opportunity and will be led by Christina Fuller-Gregory<https://libguides.osl.state.or.us/conted/leadingwithequity#s-lib-ctab-29924876-1>.
This comprehensive fully online course is for:
* participants who've completed the a previously offered Libraries Leading with Equity cohort
* library workers who hope to lead internal EDI efforts
* administrators who want to be more deeply embedded in EDI work
* organizations hoping to integrate more advanced EDI principles into their strategic planning processes.
This online training will provide opportunities for participants to learn, practice, and apply the concepts of EDI through an organizational lens. Using a model that integrates both presentation and group engagement throughout the course, participants will begin to develop an organizational narrative to support EDI initiatives. Moving from the tangible knowledge gained in Libraries Leading with Equity, participants will be challenged to begin or sustain a strong equity practice in their organizations.
Sessions include:
* Module 1: Understanding Your Organizational Identity
Wednesday, February 21st from 9AM-1PM PST
* Module 2: Holistic EDI: Beyond Numbers and Behaviors
Wednesday, March 6th from 9AM-1PM PST
* Module 3: The Power, Privilege, and Oppression Continuum and Organizational Change
Wednesday, March 20th from 9AM-1PM PST
* Module 4: Tell Them Who You Are: Developing Strong EDI Internal Messaging
Wednesday, April 10th from 9AM-1PM PST
All sessions will take place via Zoom and there is no cost to attend.
Library staff at all levels from public, school, and academic libraries are welcome. In recognition of the essential role they play in small libraries, key library volunteers are may apply.
Although this course is a continuation of the lessons learned during the initial Libraries Leading with Equity cohorts, all interested library workers are encouraged to apply<https://forms.gle/R9UqV5HLEazX9F1h8> by Wednesday, February 13, 2024.
