Wednesday, December 4, 11:00a PT: Partnerships and Building Relationships: How, Why, and Who<https://www.nicheacademy.com/partnerships-and-building-relationships-how-why-and-who?_hsmi=334624814>
It takes a village... What strategies work for libraries wanting to become stronger community partners? How can you do this work no matter your job title? Being strategic, accountable, and a library advocate focused on documentation are key, but so too is centering the entire process around joy. In this free one-hour webinar, Rebecca Hass and Noah Lenstra share how to center joy in the sometimes complicated work of building and maintaining community partnerships. They'll present examples of libraries across America that have devised working systems for building partnerships and strong community relationships. And they'll take a deep dive into the successes and challenges experienced at Maryland's Anne Arundel County Public Library.
You'll leave this session not only with renewed confidence in your ability to find partners, but also with plans to integrate partnerships and relationships even more fully into your work, and into the work of your library.
If you're interested but not able to attend the live webinar, go ahead and register<https://www.nicheacademy.com/partnerships-and-building-relationships-how-why-and-who?_hsmi=334624814>. We'll send a recording to all registrants after the fact.
Wednesday, December 4, 11:00a PT: How to Initiate, Support, and Evaluate a Social Work Practicum Student in Your Library: Lessons Learned From A Statewide Initiative in New Jersey<https://www.nnlm.gov/training/class/region-one-insights-webinar-series-how-initiate-support-and-evaluate-social-work>
Public libraries often serve many patrons with social service-related needs, which has led to an increase in library-based social work programs and partnerships across the US and internationally. As a first step in adding a social worker and/or a cost-saving way of adding on-site social work services, a growing number of public libraries are interested in or are already hosting social work practicum students. However, many libraries are "reinventing the wheel" with these placements due to limited guidance and shared learning which could help address common barriers that frequently arise. To assist libraries with understanding the steps necessary to initiate their own practicum placement, prepare staff for the presence of a social worker, and orient, supervise, and support an on-site social work student, this panel will present information and lessons learned from a recent New Jersey statewide initiative.
