The recent federal election results have raised many questions.

Be assured the State Library's mission will not change; the strategic plan the State Library<https://www.oregon.gov/library/operations/Documents/Strategic%20Plan%202023-26%20-%20Objectives%20Only.pdf> has in place will not change; our approach to focusing on what our customers need and providing the best possible service will not change; and our commitment to how we do our work will not change. The State Library's plans and goals for what we do and how we treat our customers, and each other, remain in place.

The equity and inclusion work the State Library has been, and is doing, will continue to be a priority. That commitment does not change based on federal election results. Our equity and inclusion work is also grounded in state and federal civil rights laws. We will continue providing trainings, tools, and technical assistance to foster a nondiscriminatory and accessible workplace and deliver high-quality customer service to the libraries and the people of Oregon.

Many of the programs we administer have a federal component or rely on federal funding, including Library Support, Talking Books, and Operations. The State Library will do what we always do: we will see what changes do, or do not, happen at the federal level and then decide how to best serve Oregonians. Importantly, our focus on customer service, equity and inclusion remain in place. That commitment does not change based on federal election results.
