Please pardon the cross-posting.
Yesterday afternoon the State Librarian and I were notified by a research analyst at the Legislative Policy and Research Office (LPRO) about a brief they published, Issue Brief: Oregon Public School Librarians<https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/lpro/Publications/Oregon%20Public%20School%20Librarians%20-%20Issue%20Brief%20(May%202025).pdf>. Besides the direct link, it can be found on LPRO's publications page<https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/lpro/Pages/research-analysis.aspx>. The fairly extensive report is focused on the role and number of licensed school librarians in the state and includes published data and information from the national SLIDE study<https://libslide.org/>, Oregon Department of Education, the State Library, and more. While it's not yet clear what prompted the creation of the brief, the LPRO's website indicates that they provide "nonpartisan public policy research, analysis, and development on a wide range of topics at the request of legislators, legislative committees, and task forces."
Besides the issue brief, here's a reminder about a few other sources of information about Oregon public school libraries and resources for stakeholders.
