We’ve been using Beach Books in Seaside, OR for the past couple of years to purchase a majority of our print materials. They are great to work with and have excellent customer service. They are celebrating their 20th anniversary this month so they are well established.

And, in response to Darci’s post below, a library director mentioned ThriftBooks<https://www.thriftbooks.com/> as a possible option.

Hi all,

Thanks to the many colleagues from other state libraries, a list of possible book vendors has been compiled that you all may find helpful. Please note that the State Library of Oregon doesn’t recommend any particular vendor so please do your due diligence 😊

Some potential vendors to explore:

  *   Ingram for children’s, teen, adult materials (Ingram may have limited capacity at this time for new clients but they will work with new clients as quickly as possible). Contact: BJ Compau, cell: 509 209 3192, email: bj.compau at ingramcontent.com<mailto:bj.compau at ingramcontent.com>
  *   Brodart/McNaughton for children’s, teen, adult materials
  *   Libraria for children’s and teen materials
  *   Follett for children’s and teen materials (Previously Follett only worked with the school library market, but recently started serving public libraries)
  *   Thorndike for large print materials
  *   Center Point for large print materials
  *   Midwest Tape for media
  *   MicroMarketing for media
  *   Barnes & Noble
  *   Amazon
  *   Local bookstores

Be mindful of your library’s needs as you are researching other vendors:

  *   Does your library want a vendor that assists with collection development tools and support?
  *   Does your library need cataloging or processing services from the vendor?
  *   Does your library need duplicate item checking?
  *   Can the vendor ship materials to your library before the pub date?
  *   How cumbersome (or not) is the vendor’s invoicing and payment process?
