[Mes] Mentoring Program - Mentors

Good morning,
Over the next five to ten years, Oregon state government will be facing many new challenges and opportunities heightening the need to preserve institutional memory and experiential knowledge. While we have employees with the necessary leadership potential, we need to provide them the opportunities and means to develop skills so they are ready to successfully step into those important leadership roles. One tool of that development is through a mentorship program.  The DAS - Chief Human Resources Office is launching the first statewide mentoring program for emerging leaders.  The program will run approximately six months from training to final evaluation.  We are reaching out to you, as an alumni of the Foundational training program, to see if you would like to participate in this program as a mentor.

Below are the details and the time commitment to participate.

Participation Requirements
To participate as a mentor:

*         You must be a manager or supervisor currently managing staff (i.e. principal executive manager or a supervisor).

*         A minimum of 3 years management experience (private and/or public sector experience).

*         Be able to commit to attend training on June 5th, 2018.

*         Be able to commit to meet with your mentee 6 times throughout the program.

*         Your manager supports your participation in the program.

Timeline
March 19 - April 23:        Applications being accepted
Week of April 30:             Applicants will be notified.
June 5:                                  Training for mentors.
June 12:                               Mentor/Mentee introductions
December 12:                    Final program evaluation.
