Roundhouse Foundation appreciates the value of heritage resources, ?arts and culture bring people together, expand hearts and minds and build vibrant communities. They cultivate, enhance and sustain a sense of community by helping people understand and respect who they are, who their neighbors are and the unique place they call home.? The foundation has supported heritage work and its potential to enhance communities and economies. The results of the 2024 Oregon Heritage Vitality Study Report released by the Oregon Heritage Commission highlighted a need for access to technical resources and capacity building opportunities. The development of this pilot grant program was, in part, a response to this issue. ?It is exciting to see a valued partner step forward in enhancing Oregon?s rural communities with a concrete solution to the issues revealed in the study.? Katie Henry, Oregon Heritage Commission coordinator noted, ?These collaborative efforts and support for the organizations doing the work are the key to preserving Oregon?s heritage resources and making them accessible for public benefit.? Other themes from the study included the desire for more regional networking and collaboration among the sector, easier access to existing resources, and promotion of the value of Oregon?s heritage resources. The commission is working with other partners to develop equally meaningful responses to the study. For information on the study or to collaborate with the commission on these efforts, contact Katie Henry at katie.henry at oprd.oregon.gov or 503-877-8834. *********************** Follow us on Facebook at @oregonheritage, on LinkedIn, on the Oregon Heritage Exchange blog.
