Greetings,

The controversy over the inclusion of “George” on the Battle of the Books reading list continues to generate media attention across the country. Miranda Doyle, Lake Oswego School District librarian and Oregon Association of School Libraries Intellectual Freedom Chair, has written a thoughtful and rousing piece for the School Library Journal: "Librarians Cannot Self-Censor or Capitulate To “George” Complaints<https://www.slj.com/2018/05/opinion/librarians-cannot-self-censor-capitulate-george-complaints-opinion/>."

It’s an excellent reminder about why it’s so important to include materials with diverse perspectives in our collections.

Thanks for everything you do to promote intellectual freedom!
