[OLA-IF-News] EBSCO porn lawsuit in CO

Interesting and upsetting. The complainers are zealots, and the Cherry
Creek School Board has no backbone or integrity. Out of curiousity, I
replicated some of the searches cited in the Denver Post article and found
some materials some people might be upset about, (reviews of sex toys) but
nothing I would call hardcore porn, or even porn.

Given the prevalence of Internet porn, the idea of young people looking
into Ebsco for stimulation is ludicrous. Heck, they might also go back
into the stacks to find old editions of National Geographic. (And for you
older readers, the Sears catalog.)

There are some streaming videos that will raise some eyebrows in Kanopy,
recently subscribed to by Multnomah County Library and Washington County
Libraries. That will be a harder defense for free-speech advocates, so it
is important to win this one in Colorado.
