Recently there has been an increase book challenges in school districts across the country. Because so many of them target Lawn Boy and Gender Queer, the ALA Office for Intellectual Freedom<http://www.ala.org/oif> published a blog post that includes some helpful resources for the books and some general guidance:

  * Lawn Boy and Gender Queer: The Trend Toward Book Challenges<https://www.oif.ala.org/oif/?p=27097> (https://www.oif.ala.org/oif/?p=27097)

It was written by AASL member and intellectual freedom award winner Martha Hickson<https://www.ala.org/news/member-news/2020/04/martha-hickson-receives-aasl-intellectual-freedom-award>. Please feel free to share it with your colleagues!

Also know that the OLA Intellectual Freedom Committee<https://www.olaweb.org/if-home> is available if you need support with a challenge in your school or library. We also encourage you to report challenges to the Oregon Intellectual Freedom Clearinghouse<https://libguides.osl.state.or.us/oifc/report>.
