Hi! The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is collecting data to inform their plans to expand the free summer food service program (SFSP) to provide meals to more children. If you partner with a free summer food site or are a site and are planning a special event or activity (such as distributing giveaway books!), please take a few minutes to read and respond to the following email by June 11th. Responses should be sent to ode.communitynutrition at ode.state.or.us<mailto:ode.communitynutrition at ode.state.or.us>.

Thank you,
Katie

Subject: SFSP Planned kick-off and “spike” events – if events are planned, please reply by 6/11/15

Dear Sponsors and Partners:

USDA is focusing efforts in expanding summer meals programs to as many children as possible. As a part of this effort USDA is collecting information on Summer Meals Events. These are events that highlight your local program(s) and are a way to get more kids to more sites.

We already collected some SFSP events in an earlier survey, but we need an updated list, so please help us let USDA know all of the great things that are happening in Oregon.

USDA is looking for information on big or small SFSP events. Large events may include inviting elected officials, local celebrities, media, games, prizes, etc. Smaller SFSP events may include a focused activity such as inviting the local fire department, a free book give away, games, etc.

If you have any planned events this summer, please provide the following by June 11, 2015:
Date of the event:
Sponsor name:
Event location (name of site or other location):
Planned activities:

Please send this information to ode.communitynutrition at ode.state.or.us<mailto:ode.communitynutrition at ode.state.or.us>

Thank you for your passion and interest in serving meals to kids this summer!

Sincerely,

Lynne Reinoso
