Subject: [Libs-Or] Chime in on school libraries

Here’s a chance to chime in on the importance of school libraries. The Oregon Department of Education is surveying Oregonians on its response to the Every Students Succeeds Act. The OLA/OASL/ACRL Task Force on the ESSA has developed suggestions for some of the questions on the survey. These are available on the OLA website at http://www.olaweb.org/oregon-school-libraries-and-the-every-student-succeeds-act [see item #2].

Some of the questions are a bit challenging for those of us not immersed in the K-12 community. But, reminding ODE of the importance of school libraries and teacher librarians is something we can all get behind. The survey closes January 16, so please act now. Take the survey here - http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/results/?id=399

Thanks!
Janet Webster
co-chair, OLA Library Development and Legislation Committee
