That's such a great idea, Lisa. Perhaps even as the pre-conference?

I don't know what we've been considering for that.

I'm going to Jason Reynolds too. See you there!

I'n not able to attend the OASL conference (though I'm not missing the Jason Reynolds, yay!), and I'm especially bummed to miss the session on Creating Culturally Responsive Libraries. The description is below. Could OYAN sponsor something like this?

It is one thing to be culturally relevant, and another to be culturally responsive. In this session, participants will explore how to be both in school libraries by examining practices around collection development, reading promotion, behavior management, and library policies. While this session will provide tools and resources, it will also be an opportunity for participants to share their ideas, questions, and challenges. Hi Everyone,

It looks like the OLA proposals are due before our next OYAN meeting. :( Should we start an email thread to discuss proposals? I know at our last meeting, we talked about maybe doing a panel on teen space funding/design.

Best,

Good morning,

The Oregon Library Association is pleased to announce the submission site for OLA Conference Programs for the 2018 OLA Annual Conference, which will take place in Eugene, OR, April 18-21, 2018, is NOW OPEN!

The Conference Committee invites OLA members and non-members alike to submit their program ideas for consideration. Once again, we will offer half-day and full-day pre-conferences on Wednesday, regular concurrent sessions on Thursday and Friday, and a full day of programming - with an emphasis on topics that especially appeal to members of OLA's Oregon Association of School Libraries division - on Saturday.

OLA President Buzzy Nielsen selected this year's conference theme: "Many Points of Light, One Bright Future," which is the slogan for the Libraries of Eastern Oregon<http://ola.memberclicks.net/message2/link/0debd7b2-42bd-40ad-a99a-9101d3478cef/1>. OLA was granted permission to borrow their tagline - and adapt their logo - to highlight OLA's on-going commitment to outreach, support, and collaboration with rural and small libraries. Read more about Buzzy's theme choice here: https://orlib18.wordpress.com/about/<http://ola.memberclicks.net/message2/link/0debd7b2-42bd-40ad-a99a-9101d3478cef/2>

Keep in mind the proposal process is competitive and it's unlikely that every proposal will be accepted. Applicants are encouraged to think creatively about how their program connects to this year's conference theme!

The deadline for submissions is 9:00PM, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2017. All submissions will be notified of acceptance or rejection by November 17, 2017.
