ALA is calling on library advocates in every congressional district to contact their representative and ask them to support federal funding for libraries by cosigning “Dear Appropriator” letters<https://ala.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b9b7f12a0545b1a14ef19a691&id=8bb1f82caa&e=0da9e8e774> to fund the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and the Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) program. The more signatures ALA gets on these letters, the more likely it is that funding for LSTA and IAL will be restored. The deadline for signatures is March 28. If there’s financial need, up to $1,000 in total funds can be provided to the liaison to defray the cost of attending the 2020 Midwinter Meeting and Annual Conference. ALA Seeks Candidates for Endowment Fund Trustee Openings
The ALA Endowment Trustees <https://ala.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b9b7f12a0545b1a14ef19a691&id=3aa0f94b4b&e=0da9e8e774> have the authority to hold, invest and disburse endowment and other long-term investment funds as directed by the ALA Executive Board. Candidates must have a working knowledge of investment opportunities available to the endowment and other long-term investment funds, and of benchmarks used to judge fund performance. The candidates must also have experience in the management or oversight of investment funds in a business setting and must be able to contribute to the preparation of semi-annual reports on the performance of the fund to the ALA Executive Board and Council.
