Hi,

New book alert! You are welcome to borrow this or any Library and Information Science (LIS) Collection title from the State Library.
[cid:image004.jpg at 01D4E3D0.FAD6F080]Graphic Novels Core Collection: Collection Development Recommendations by Librarians for Librarians, 2nd ed., Kendal Spires, editor, 2018

Publisher's Description<https://www.hwwilsoninprint.com/graphicnovels_core.php>: ...provides expert recommendations, developed by H.W. Wilson's team of library and media specialists. Whether for collection development, collection maintenance, readers' advisory, or curriculum support, Graphic Novels Core Collection provides the sound guidance that librarians need so they can rest assured that they are selecting materials that will best serve their collection and their patrons.

This second edition includes nearly 2,500 book titles at the Most Highly Recommended and Core Collection recommendation levels. A star at the start of an entry indicates that the book is a "most highly recommended" title. These titles constitute a shortlist of the essential books in a given category or on a given subject. Each title includes content descriptions and quotes from selected reviews. The graphic novels in this collection cover a wide variety of genres including adventure, biography, fantasy, superhero, horror, mystery, romance, science fiction, and more....

We also have other books from the Core Collection (CC) series<https://ccrls.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/oslpublic/search/results?qu=core+collection&te=ILS&rt=false%7C%7C%7CSERIES%7C%7C%7CSeries>: Children's CC, Middle and Junior High CC, Senior High CC, Fiction CC (for public libraries), and Public Library CC: Nonfiction.

If you would like to request these or other materials from the State Library, please use your library's established interlibrary loan process (e.g. OCLC or ALA request form). Otherwise, send your full name, the name of your library, complete title information, shipping address, and a phone number to the document delivery department at library.request at state.or.us<mailto:library.request at state.or.us> or (fax) 503-588-7119. Items will be checked out to your library, not to you personally, for 4 weeks (print materials) or 2 weeks (videos). Materials will be delivered via mail or Orbis Cascade Alliance Courier, and you may return them the same way. Normally a single copy is purchased and is loaned on a first-come-first-serve basis. You may be put on a hold list for several weeks.

Most library staff are able to use their library's interlibrary loan service to borrow professional development material. However, if you do not have access to these services or are not currently affiliated with a library, please contact me to discuss alternative options for borrowing the material.

Be sure to check out the State Library's catalog<https://ccrls.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/oslpublic> to discover titles that are in the LIS collection<https://ccrls.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/oslpublic/search/results?qf=SUBJECT%09Subject%09LIBRARY+AND+INFORMATION+SCIENCE+COLLECTION%09LIBRARY+AND+INFORMATION+SCIENCE+COLLECTION&qf=-FORMAT%09Format%09CR%09Periodicals&qf=-LOCATION%09Location%091%3AO-INET%09Internet&ac=LOCATION%09Location%091%3AO-INET%09Internet+%7C%7C+1%3AO-LDEV%09Library+Support+Office+%7C%7C+1%3AO-MAIN%09Main+Collection+%7C%7C+1%3AO-MANQ%09Main+Collection+Oversize+%7C%7C+1%3AO-PER%09Periodicals++%7C%7C+1%3AO-TBAB%09Talking+Books+Office+%7C%7C+1%3AO-TECH%09Techical+Services+Office+%7C%7C+1%3AO-USD%09US+Documents&te=ILS&st=PD>. The Library and Information Science (LIS) Collection is meant to support the entire Oregon library community, and the Library Support division welcomes your suggestions for acquisitions.

This collection is supported in whole by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the State Library of Oregon.

Thanks,
Jen
