[OYAN] OYAN Book Rave - Still time to nominate!

If you read young adult books, OYAN really, really wants to know about any outstanding new books you've read this year!

Why? Because we soon be closing nominations for the 2021 Book Rave - an annual list produced by the members of the Oregon Young Adult Network and announced at the Oregon Library Association's conference in April. Books nominated should be written and marketed for readers of middle and high school age (generally 6th-12th grade) and be published between November 1, 2019 and October 31, 2020.

It's really that simple. If you read a YA book and you liked it and it was published between those dates - nominate it! Nominate many! Or a few. Or one. (Quick note: This list does not include graphic novels. OYAN also organizes a separate Graphic Rave list published in the fall.)

Here is the form. It doesn't take long to add some books that you think are worthy of being promoted to Oregon teens:

The goal is to create a list with a variety of genres and voices that includes books for both younger and older teen readers. We have a lively interest the inclusion of Oregon authors and/or Oregon settings.

Nominations will be collected until December 11, 2020. OYAN members will then be invited to vote on the nominated books through mid-January 2020, narrowing the list to approximately 20 OYAN Book Rave selections. The list is further discussed at the winter meeting of the Oregon Young Adult Network, usually held in January.

Wondering what has already been nominated? I'm attaching the list.* If you read it and think, "Why hasn't anyone nominated ______"? Nominate it!

(*If you nominated a title that has been removed, it is because the book is a graphic novel OR was published outside of the 2021 Book Rave publishing window.)

Questions? Let me know!
