Hello everyone,
Welcome to Monday! I wanted to share a couple links with you today.
The first is an interview with Cynthia Leitich Smith<https://bookriot.com/native-childrens-literature/> and several other Native American writers with Book Riot's Kelly Jensen about publishing Native American literature for children and teens.
Cynthia Leitich Smith also co-wrote an article How Native Writers Talk Story<https://www.slj.com/?detailStory=How-native-indigenous-writers-talk-story-honoring-authentic-voices-in-books-for-young-people-Libraries> published last week in School Library Journal with Traci Sorell, who wrote the multiple award-winning We Are Grateful<https://www.tracisorell.com/we-are-grateful-otsaliheliga>. I found this article very helpful as a non-Native reader coming to these stories and thought some of you may find it helpful too.
Lastly, if you've never looked at The National Museum of the American Indian<https://americanindian.si.edu/>, there are some key K-12 educator resources as well as virtual exhibitions and virtual programming that may be beneficial as you think about building collections.
Best,
Greta
