Hi folks,

You may have seen that during the pandemic, teen brains aged more rapidly<https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2022/12/01/pandemic-stress-aging-teen-brains/> than normal. The US Preventive Task Force recently recommended<https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/11/health/anxiety-screening-children-uspstf/index.html> screening for anxiety and depression at earlier ages. This Oregonian article about teen mental health needs<https://www.oregonlive.com/education/2022/08/teen-depression-anxiety-skyrocketed-in-oregon-during-pandemic-study-findsshows.html> increasing drastically during the pandemic is behind a paywall, but this Idaho one is not and covers similar themes<https://www.idahoednews.org/news/national-organizations-call-for-doctors-to-regularly-screen-adolescents-for-mental-health-issues/>.

Teen mental health resources at the statewide level include:

The Youthline teen line<https://oregonyouthline.org/> has teens available from 4-10pm, and adults 24/7, both via call, text, email and chat.
Oregon Health Authority offers additional resources for teens and families<https://www.oregon.gov/oha/HSD/BH-Child-Family/Pages/Help-for-Teens.aspx>.
Oregon State's Youth and Family Mental Health Initiative<https://health.oregonstate.edu/mental-health> is bringing partners from around the state together, including Mental Health First Aid training for adults working with teens that may be useful.
