iREAD 2022: Summer Reading Planning Photos Showcase

Libraries across the nation worked hard this spring to prepare for their summer reading programs. We are happy to share submissions from libraries that sent us photos and descriptions, showcasing preparation and promotion of their summer reading program. iREAD will continue to showcase photos and stories throughout the summer. Check the call below and find out how to submit.

"We have 2 locations, and at our main branch (Prosser Library) we have a large iREAD-themed mural at our building entrance. We wanted to share an image of the mural with you :) When kids/teens register for the program, we give them the option to add their name to our mural. This year, they have a choice of selecting a flower, butterfly, or cloud to personalize and to attach to the mural."

The library also used the photo for various social media and print publicity.

Scientists from our local ag research station came and set up a wonderful “science fair” in the library’s butterfly garden, where the summer readers got to learn about the science of seed dispersal and photosynthesis. The readers went home with a brown bag containing everything they needed to carry out a bean growing experiment at home, including soil, various beans, a ruler and data sheets."

Thank you all for your submission!
