[OYAN] Voting Open => Oregon Reader's Choice Award & Beverly Cleary Children's Choice Award

Hi,

I have been asked to share information about two reader's choice awards associated with divisions of the Oregon Library Association.

The Oregon Reader's Choice Award<https://oregonreaderschoiceaward.wordpress.com/about-2/> (ORCA) "is intended to be a fun and exciting way for Oregon youth in grades 3-12 to become enthusiastic and discriminating readers." The following information is from ORCA Chair, Lori Lieberman (llieber1 at pps.net<mailto:llieber1 at pps.net>): Students in grades 3-12 who have read two or more books in any of the three divisions may vote for their favorite in that division. Votes can be submitted by teachers or librarians using the school-and-library-wide voting form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScc4q_m8MlTceXQxsvIE-wMk1xhBh6lFiBjlhkwsP5N-1cmWg/viewform>. Voting ballots can be found under the Resources tab on the ORCA blog's navigation bar. Students can also vote directly using the student form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScJj9BC3WCk28VE0SdXnNl7kIv4kJ_c0mlJXDyXFR_yR8M6fA/viewform>. The Beverly Cleary Children's Choice Award<https://www.olaweb.org/bccca-home> (BCCCA) encourages children of all ages to read at least two titles from the year's list of nominated books and vote on their favorite. The reading level of the books ranges from K-5th grades. Voting is open through April 10th at 6 pm Pacific. Details are in the email below. Questions? Interested in promoting one or both program/s with students/patrons but didn't know about them until now? Check the program websites next fall for the new list of nominated titles.

Dear Teachers, School Library and Public Library Staff,
         Please encourage your students in schools and public libraries across the United States to participate in voting for their favorite 2021-2022 BCCCA nominated title! Readers with reading levels of K-5th grades who have read or listened to at least two of the nominated books may vote for their one favorite title. The BCCCA Contest opens on March 15th and ends on April 10th, 2022 at 6 PM!

*  Show readers the animoto, slideshow and/or the short video clips that accompany these nominees.
*  Read aloud as many of this year's seven nominations as possible.
*  Remind readers that as long as they've read or listened to TWO or more of the BCCCA nominations, each of them can vote for their one very favorite title. Readers need to realize that they need to finish at least 2 of the books by the date that the adult administering the BCCCA program chooses to end the contest.

*   Note: If you're using the 2021-2022 BCCCA Student Paper Ballot  https://www.olaweb.org/bccca-how-to-vote there was an error on the book cover for Juana & Lucas: Big Problemas.  Please use this attached Rev.BCCCA Student Paper Ballot for your participating students.

Only the adult administering the BCCCA program enters the final tallies using the Google BCCCA Adult Online Submission Form. That link is now open starting on March 15th on the BCCCA website.  Students do not enter their votes online. Adults, please submit all votes that each book has received. BCCCA Adult Online Submission Forms MUST be received by 6 PM on Sunday, April 10th to be counted.

The winning 2021-2022 BCCCA title will be announced on Beverly Cleary's 106th birthday, April 12, 2022 along with the new 2022-2023 BCCCA Nominations!
