[OYAN] Book Rave and Mock Printz Reminder

Hi folks,

I wanted to add to the Book Rave reminder below - Mock Printz<https://oyanpeeps.wordpress.com/2024/11/01/oyan-mock-printz-book-list-and-invitation/> is coming up soon!

I've been working my way through the reading list and am loving it. I'm trying to pick my top two and CAN'T DO IT. This may change since I haven't gotten through the whole list yet, but I'm just saying these are pretty great. I loved everything about Brownstone and Lunar New Year Love Story, found Icarus heartbreakingly beautiful and Everything I Never Had - hmm, maybe that's my top pick so far. Argh! Can't pick! You'll have to come to the Mock to share your thoughts.  Even if you can't make it to the January 25th in-person or virtual event, the list compiled by Kristy at Salem, Lorene (recently retired from Chetco), and Lindsey at Creswell is SUCH A GOOD LIST. Check it out if you need some reading suggestions over the next couple weeks where you may have a little more downtime.

There's still plenty of time to use your OYAN membership privilege and vote for the 2025 Book Rave!

Email collection is turned on, so you can look over the list and vote now but read more books and go back to amend or add to your votes up until the form is closed on January 18th.

Voting will continue through Friday January 18th, 2025.

The goals of the Book Rave are:

  *   To provide libraries across Oregon with a vibrant, reliable, high quality list of recommended fiction and nonfiction purchases for readers of middle and high school age (generally 6th-12th grade)
  *   To include a variety of genres (fantasy, science fiction, realistic fiction, historical fiction, nonfiction, mystery, etc.)
  *   To represent a diverse mix of authors and stories, reflecting a mix of cultural, sexual, gender, socioeconomic identities and experiences.
  *   To highlight at least 2 books each year written by Oregon authors and/or set in Oregon.

If you do not see a book you nominated, it may have been removed because (a) it was not published between November 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024; (b) the book is not marketed to/cataloged for young adult or middle grade readers; or (c) because it is a graphic novel. Graphic novel recommendations will be considered for the next Graphic Rave list.

Please vote for any book you feel is worthy of recognition. There is a field at the end of each section for you to note particularly strong support and an opportunity to make a case if you feel that a book should NOT be included for some reason.

If two books by the same author are among the top vote-getters, only one book by that author will be chosen.
