Subject: [oasl-all] May 15 2026 board meeting summary

Hi all,

It's refreshing to send out an update without terrible news.

Today the State Library Board met and worked thru a long agenda. Here's the list of outcomes:

  * The budget for the FY 27 Talking Book and Braille Library expendable donation fund was approved.
  * The budget for the LSTA 2026 grant spending (which covers June 2026-September 2027) was approved.
  * Keizer Community Library has been officially recognized for meeting the public library minimum conditions<https://slo.oregon.gov/minconpublibs>, effective July 1, 2026.
  * The Oregon Administrative Rules updates for Ready to Read<https://www.oregon.gov/library/operations/Pages/Administrative-Rules.aspx> were passed and will be effective July 1, 2026.

We also bid a fond farewell to Greg Williams, Oregon City Library Director, and Ann Malkin, Deschutes Library Board Chair, who are completing their terms on the State Library Board effective June 30, 2026. Please join me in thanking them for all the years of dedicated service to Oregon!

For those of you coming to the Library Support Open House next week Thursday, May 21<https://www.cognitoforms.com/StateLibraryOfOregon/LibrarySupportAndDevelopmentDivisionOpenHouseRSVP> from 1-4 p.m., please stop to admire the new Talking Book & Braille Library Donor Board, at the Winter Street entrance at 250 Winter Street NE, Salem. I've attached a picture that doesn't quite do it justice. [See the picture here<https://drive.google.com/file/d/1j_oy7OkI0NqE6icKRHk19qYqXlNp9EbD/view?usp=sharing> instead.]

Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns.

Thanks,
Wendy
