Hello from the OLA Intellectual Freedom Committee,
We have learned from public libraries around the state that the issue of providing wif-fi after-hours access has become complicated for many libraries. These complications sometimes involve balancing the values of providing internet access to community members with concerns about vandalism by after-hours wi-fi users.
To assist library staff in navigating these concerns and communicating with officials on this issue, the Intellectual Freedom Committee would like to collect some data about current practices in public libraries around the state. This survey is anonymous and should take just a few minutes to complete.
A report with the results from the survey will be available by the time of the OLA Conference in April. If appropriate, based on what we learn from the results, the report may include some talking points to assist with communication on this issue.
Here is the link to the short survey: Wi-fi access after library hours<https://portlandcc.az1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_2l6U4byTCX6ITJz>. The survey will close March 15th.
