Hi Public Library folks!
This year, we're reviving our practice of sending periodic email updates about the Public Library Statistical Report during the reporting period. This is the first update since the reporting tool opened on July 31. I'll aim to send an update approximately every two weeks until the reporting deadline of October 1.
Congrats to Brownsville, Port Orford, and Milton-Freewater for already completing their surveys!
Other notes and updates:
Question 1.14 - Unanticipated edit check
* Question 1.14 (Number of central library outlets), which is pre-filled with last year's data (and for 99.9% of you the answer is '1'), was throwing an edit check needlessly. Our vendor has corrected this issue, but apologies if this caused any confusion on your end. You should no longer receive an edit check for this question.
Question 3.6 - LSTA grants
* I've had a couple of questions about state vs. federal revenue sources, so I wanted to clarify: If your library received a LSTA Competitive Grant and/or a Refreshing Youth Collections grant from the State Library last fiscal year, we have pre-filled that amount for you in Question 3.6, under Federal Revenue Sources. The source for both of these grants came through our Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) allotment from the federal IMLS<https://www.imls.gov/grants/grant-programs/grants-states>, which is administered by the State Library of Oregon through our LSTA Program<https://www.oregon.gov/Library/libraries/Pages/LSTA.aspx>. Ready to Read grants, by contrast, are funded through a state appropriation here in Oregon and should be reported manually this year in Question 3.5.
Question 10.1 - Population Served
* If your library is part of WCCLS, LINCC, Lincoln County LD, Coos County LSD, or Wasco County LSD, I'll be entering your service population in Question 10.1 soon. If you want to submit your report before I can update your population, just leave me a note in the 'State' notes field on Question 10.1 and I'll be sure to update that data after you submit. If your library is not a member of those districts/cooperatives listed above, your service population has already been updated with the most recent population estimates.
Technical glitches, hidden questions, etc.
* Between the updates to the collection tool interface last year and recent changes we've made to the survey itself, you may receive an unexpected edit check or two when you try to submit your report. If you think you're seeing an error or edit check when you shouldn't be, please let me know<mailto:ross.fuqua at state.or.us> and I'll troubleshoot it ASAP.
As always, email me if you have questions, and please check out the instructions and FAQs for completing your statistical report at:
