Hello Oregon public library directors!,

For the bravest among you who laugh in the face of survey fatigue, please consider participating in the Brooklyn (NY) Public Library survey linked here<https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/7495017/decc591a954COSLA> (and below) on library card access. This national study is funded by the Mellon Foundation, and results will be shared widely in Spring 2024.

  *   Participation is completely optional.
  * The survey should take about 25 minutes to complete (survey instrument contains 61 questions - a preview of it is here<https://www.bklynlibrary.org/sites/default/files/documents/books-unbanned/BPL%20Library%20Card%20Access%20Survey%20PDF.pdf>).
  * Extra incentive: If you provide your name/email, you will be entered to win a $25 gift card.

Please see more information below, including their privacy statement (personal info will be excluded from the dataset they eventually share and publish).

Cheers!

________________________________
The survey should take about 25 minutes to complete. Because the survey links library name to IMLS PLS data, respondents will not have to answer questions about their library's budget, service population, or other standard questions about their library. The survey only asks questions about library cardholder signup procedures. You can see the survey questions in full here<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bklynlibrary.org%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2Fdocuments%2Fbooks-unbanned%2FBPL%2520Library%2520Card%2520Access%2520Survey%2520PDF.pdf&data=05%7C01%7CRoss.Fuqua%40stateoforegon.mail.onmicrosoft.com%7C373d2a26e0444863a91a08dbcb65099e%7Caa3f6932fa7c47b4a0cea598cad161cf%7C0%7C0%7C638327407036386836%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=JWwt7N1Wst7WBay4adnW1vS3ds8ei%2FKvoetd%2FWXs7Hc%3D&reserved=0>.

To Library Directors:
By responding to this survey, you will be contributing to the first known sampling of public library card access trends across the United States. The survey collects data about your library's cardholder signup process for adults and children/teenagers, as well as how these policies and procedures are revised. Brooklyn Public Library will share findings in a report issued to the field in spring 2024; and will convene a working group next summer to publish a framework for library leaders of best practices around cardholder access.

Ensure YOUR library is represented.

Take the Survey: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/7495017/decc591a954COSLA<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsurvey.alchemer.com%2Fs3%2F7495017%2Fdecc591a954COSLA&data=05%7C01%7CRoss.Fuqua%40stateoforegon.mail.onmicrosoft.com%7C373d2a26e0444863a91a08dbcb65099e%7Caa3f6932fa7c47b4a0cea598cad161cf%7C0%7C0%7C638327407036386836%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=PbfOTgOVf9k1HoxnajheLFcj4YQVLFEgt%2BvHdiwceqg%3D&reserved=0>

Survey Audience: The survey is intended for anyone who currently works or recently worked (within the past 12 months) at a public library in the United States and who is familiar with their library's cardholder signup process. Your personal information will be kept confidential.

Multiple organizations are distributing this survey; therefore, you may also receive an invitation to participate elsewhere, or you may see a link for this survey in a library publication or forum. We ask that individuals take this Library Card Access Survey only once (however we can accept responses from multiple individuals on behalf of the same library).

Participants may provide their name and email address to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $25 (USD) gift card from Giftogram, which allows recipients to select from a list of retailers. One hundred (100) gift cards will be issued.
