The State Library of Oregon is pleased to announce its selection as an American Connections Corps host institution for 2024-2025.

The American Connection Corps (ACC)<https://www.americanconnectioncorps.org/> is an AmeriCorps service experience advancing economic prosperity in rural and legacy communities. Through a year of service, ACC Members become leaders who can tackle critical challenges, advance economic prosperity, and spark needed change in the places they're most connected to. A current focus of the program is a campaign to Bridge the Digital Divide.

Every full-time ACC Member receives:

  *   A $33,000 stipend.
  * A $7,395 Education Award through AmeriCorps, which can be applied to any education-related expenses after the program concludes (including repayment of qualifying student loans).
  * Comprehensive healthcare coverage (if applicable).
  *   Access to childcare benefits.
  * Student loan forbearance during your year of service.
  *   Fully-funded travel and lodging at 3-4 week-long, in-person trainings nationwide.

Potential candidates go through a general application and interview process and are then matched with a host institution based on location and interest.

The State Library fellowship offers the opportunity to serve as a Digital Navigation Resource Specialist with the following responsibilities. These duties may change depending on the location of the successful candidate.

  * Create digital inclusion asset map for northeast Oregon (including Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam, Morrow, Umatilla, Union, and Wallowa) and compile resources or services for residents that provide affordable internet access, device acquisition, digital skills training, and application support.
  * Engage with library staff in northeast Oregon to identify support needs to build capacity for digital navigation services at libraries. (Geographic scope may be adjusted depending on location of the successful candidate)
  * Provide digital navigation services to public libraries where interest/need is identified. This may include offering digital skills workshops, drop-in technical or application help sessions, or other activities as identified.
