Hello Oregon Library Directors,

I hope you all are doing well. Tom Faye, Director of Seattle Public Library and Dr. Skye Patrick, Director of LA County Library, reached out to several Directors on the West Coast to share an idea about a "One Coast, One Book" community reading celebration in May of 2026. They've identified the book, They Called Us Enemy by George Takei and have several systems committed or preliminarily committed so far (King County, San Francisco, San Diego County, San Diego, and San Jose). MCL is interested but I'm unsure of our ability to participate given the proximity to our own Everybody Reads community reading event in March.

They're working to put together an initial planning meeting and have asked for help in reaching out to other systems/libraries in our state.

If you are interested in learning more or participating, please let me know and I'll connect you with Tom and Skye.
