ALA Building Library Capacity Grant: Support for Libraries Serving New Americans

Public libraries have long been a vital resource for New Americans, providing English language lessons, workforce development, citizenship resources, multilingual collections, and more. The ALA Building Library Capacity Grants aim to bolster these efforts by awarding up to sixteen $10,000 grants to public libraries serving immigrants and refugees. These funds can support literacy programs, outreach initiatives, staffing, and other impactful services. Grants are intended for library operations, including, but not limited to staff salary (direct or indirect,) materials, technology, and in-person or virtual services. Grants are to establish, re-establish, sustain, amplify services, or create newly needed services.
A webinar information session<https://ala-events.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_H9_1QpgVTFCqDouJ_Q9CfA#/registration> will be held on Monday, March 10 at 1 p.m. PT. Registration is required, and the session will be recorded for later access.
Grant applications are open NOW and close on April 9, 2025. Awards will be announced on June 3, 2025.
