[PL-Directors] November update: lawsuit & listening session

It's Thanksgiving week, and there's a lot to be thankful for:


  *   On Friday, the federal court made the preliminary injunction a permanent one, ruling in favor of the states (including Oregon) that sued, protecting IMLS and the federal funding that all state libraries receive. As previously shared, there was an appeal on that preliminary injunction already scheduled for December 4. It's likely that the permanent ruling will also be appealed, but the timeline is not certain at this point.





  *   The listening sessions continue-thanks to everyone who has taken the survey and been able to join one of the in-person or virtual sessions. The survey is still open<https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/H57DFSJ>, and there is one virtual session left, on Wednesday, December 3 from 9-10:30 am. Sign up is in the survey.



  *   The latest state revenue forecast is much less terrible than the one in September: "The General Fund revenue forecast for 2025-27 has increased $309.5 million for the December forecast. The projected ending balance as of June 30, 2027 is a negative $63.1 million." We might all need that on a t-shirt.
