[PL-Directors] State Library Board position for Western Oregon public library rep

Since its founding, the State Library has been governed by an independent Board. The present board consists of nine members from different areas throughout the state who are appointed by the Governor to serve four-year terms under ORS 357<https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/bills_laws/ors/ors357.html>. I'm grateful for the chance to work with this group of dedicated folks who volunteer their time and attention to make sure that the State Library meets our mission.

Greg Williams has served as the Western Oregon public library representative on the State Library Board since July 2018, including two years as chair, thru numerous State Librarian recruitments and in a time of great change. His second term ends on June 30, 2026.

The State Library is now seeking nominations for the member seat that represents a public library in Western Oregon. This could be a public library staff member or public library trustee.


  *   The State Library Board meets 4 times per year and provides virtual attendance options.
  *   This State Library Board position is also confirmed by the Oregon Senate.
  *   Oregonians who serve on state boards and commissions are eligible to receive per diem compensation and reimbursement of certain expenses.

While the application process is always open, there are deadlines for submitting names for the next round of appointments. The review of nominees will begin March 23.
