[R2R-OR] Q & A: How do I go about submitting a change to my grant project?

One of you just asked a great question and I think many of you might want to know the answer too.

Q: I am wanting to modify our plan a little bit. Mostly to give it more structure and make it easier to measure the outcome. How do I go about submitting the changes?

A: I suspect you don't actually need to submit changes, but let me see...

* Are you eliminating an existing or adding a new budget item? For example: You were going to buy educational toys for you stay and play area, but instead you plan to buy furniture for your stay and play area.

* Are you dramatically changing the activities? For example: You were going to buy educational toys for your stay and play area and instead you plan to buy educational toys to put in theme kits that will circulate.

If you answered "no" to both of these questions, then you don't need to submit changes and you can move forward with your modifications. Making minor modifications to fine-tune your plan and budget is expected because you write your application so far in advance.

If you answered "yes" to one or both of these questions, then tell me via phone or email what you're not buying/doing and what you plan to buy/do instead. I just need to confirm your changes are really for early literacy or summer reading. Then, I will send you an email saying your changes are approved. That's it, no paper work or anything like that!

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks,
Katie
