Hello Ready to Read folks,

I wanted to let you know 2020 Ready to Read applications are now open and accessible on the State Library Ready to Read page<https://www-auth.oregon.egov.com/Library/libraries/Pages/Ready-to-Read.aspx> and will be due August 31st, 2019.

Some things to consider over the next two months:

We want this grant to be used in the best way possible for kids in your community. You are experts at what your community needs! If you've been kicking around a new idea, please check in with me, now is a great opportunity to make changes!

Speaking of changes, we're pretty excited to move all State Library grant opportunities - not just Ready to Read, all new LSTA grants as well! - to an online grants portal.

In this set-up year, every library's grant coordinator will need to:

1) Create an account to log into the online grants portal - This is basically setting up a username and password.

2) You will then create an organizational profile for your library, with details like name and address.

a. There is one weird field - a DUNS number - because some non-profits apply for LSTA grants, but you don't need to worry about this field. Skip it!

b. If you are not your library's director, there will be space here for you to add your director's name and e-mail, so on our end we can see both of you attached to your library.

3) You can then start your application. You do not have to complete your application in one sitting, you can log in and out as you wish.

We've taken this move to an online system as an opportunity to streamline the application process. We suggest you consider taking a little more time than usual reviewing the application and your plans about how best to use this funding. We hope we are clearer in asking for the information we need without being burdensome.

We will mail out application directions, the proposed grant amounts, and a Ready to Read timeline to all library directors. Additionally, a Ready to Read Lib Guide will be up on the Ready to Read webpage shortly with detailed application instructions, examples, and links to helpful resources. Directors, if you're not the person who completes your application, we suggest this year that you work with your grant coordinator to make sure they have all information they need to complete your organizational profile, and to make sure your grant coordinator feels empowered to answer all the application questions. Please don't hesitate to let me know if I can be supportive in any way through this process - there are always unanticipated consequences when we make changes and your feedback is appreciated!

Thanks for listening in a busy season, for your flexibility with us as we make changes, and for all the work you're doing right now with summer reading.

Best,

Greta B
