In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Children's Book Committee at the Bank Street College, their list of the best children's and teen books from 2009 is available free online! Please check out the list and recommend it to other librarians, your young patrons and their families, and everyone you know who will enjoy this new online resource: http://www.bnkst.edu/bookcom/

Here is a direct link to the booklist for children under 5 years old:

Each year the Children's Book Committee at Bank Street College reviews over 6,000 children's and young adult books and creates an annual list of the year's best. Its printed lists have always been a valuable resource, but this year the list is available free online for the first time! The list is organized by age and by category--so, for example, if you're looking for an adventure story for a seven-year-old, a nonfiction science book for a nine-year-old, or an historical novel for an eleven-year-old, you can find it easily.
