In past couple weeks I've had lots of great questions about early literacy brochures. I thought many of you might interested in the information and resources...

Unfortunately the State Library doesn't have the capacity to give away early literacy brochures. However there are a lot available online to download and print-printing them would be your only cost. My favorites are listed below. If you have other favorites, please share them with us! (Libraries, printing early literacy brochures is an allowable Ready to Read cost. Please contact me if you have questions about it.)

Every Child Ready to Read 1st Edition brochures (English only):

*         Early Talker (for birth-2 year olds/babies) http://www.earlylit.net/readytoread/English2004/parguidebrochETbw.pdf

*         Talker (for 2-3 year olds/toddlers) http://www.earlylit.net/readytoread/English2004/parguidebrochTbw.pdf

*         Pre-Reader (for 4-5 year olds/preschoolers) http://www.earlylit.net/readytoread/English2004/parguidebrochPRbw.pdf

Reading for a Healthy Start comes in English (http://www.oregon.gov/osl/LD/youthsvcs/reading.healthy.families/read.health.start.eng.pdf) and in Spanish (http://www.oregon.gov/osl/LD/youthsvcs/reading.healthy.families/read.health.start.sp.pdf)

You may also want to take a look at all the different early literacy handouts, brochures, etc. available on this webpage: http://www.earlylit.net/booklists/index.shtml. These are also available to download for free; the only cost to your library would be printing them.

If you want something a little fancier and have a better budget, then Every Child Ready to Read 2nd Edition brochures are available to purchase from the American Library Association here: http://www.alastore.ala.org/detail.aspx?ID=3405.

Hopefully this will be useful,

Katie
