Below is the press release.?Katie ________________________________ [https://mlsvc01-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/266ce217001/556cf10a-ad32-4161-a947-ff49c7d6a218.jpg?ver=1459462425000] Special thanks to Governor Brown for renewing her annual proclamation that April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Campaign during Child Abuse Prevention Month. Pinwheels for Prevention? is a nationwide public awareness campaign that features a blue pinwheel to represent the healthy, carefree childhood free from abuse and neglect we long to see for every child. Since the campaign began, over 5 million pinwheels have been displayed nationwide to promote a message of prevention and hope. This year, we are thrilled to tell you that we have covered Oregon in silver and blue- over 15,000 pinwheels have been distributed to 35 counties, and over 100 local community organizations, businesses, hospitals, government offices, and individuals have joined the campaign. There are two sides to every coin, and child abuse and neglect is no different. If we want to prevent abuse, we must promote great childhoods- something we can all agree is important and worthwhile. In this spirit, we are asking our families, friends, and neighbors to support the cause and honor loved ones by taking photos of themselves with signs stating: Because of _______________, I had a #GreatChildhood. You can keep your post private, or make it part of our statewide social media effort by tagging Prevent Child Abuse Oregon (PCA_OR) and the Children's Trust Fund of Oregon (Trust4KidsOR). What Else Can You Do? Anyone can get involved- our events calendar will be up on Monday with a complete listing of all Child Abuse Prevention Month activities, but you can get real time updates on social media. Also, it's not too late to join the campaign and set up your own garden or vase display. We will continue to accept orders until mid-April for those of you planning activities for later in the month. Click HERE to learn more or make an order. Stay tuned for weekly updates during April and watch your social media for reminders and photos from local events.
