Interested Parties list for the State Scenic Waterway Program. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Commission is scheduled to review a staff report and make a recommendation on designation of a 17.5-mile segment of the Nehalem River as a state scenic waterway at their meeting on Thursday, February 21st in Independence, OR. If the OPRC recommends designation, the Water Resources Commission will hear this item and consider concurrence on the recommendation at their February 22nd meeting in Salem, OR. If both commissions recommend this segment for inclusion in the Scenic Waterway program, the recommendation will move forward to the Governor for consideration of the designation. On February 21, the Oregon State Parks Commission unanimously approved the recommendation to the Governor to designate a 17.5 mile stretch of the Nehalem River as a Scenic Waterway. The Water Resources Commission, on February 22nd, unanimously concurred with the recommendation to designate. The recommendation will now go forward to the Governor for consideration of the designation. Any decision to designate by the Governor doesn't take effect until the legislature adjourns.
